A day in this role

You start the shift reviewing drawings and submittals with the HVAC Foreperson, staging material, and confirming equipment deliveries. By mid-morning you’re laying out hangers and supports, fitting hydronic and steam lines, and aligning pumps and air handlers. In the afternoon, you’re mentoring an apprentice through a brazed copper joint and verifying tie-ins to VAV boxes before final checks and safety closeout.

What you'll tackle

• Coordinate with the Foreperson and project team so materials, tools, and equipment are ready before installation begins.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and equipment submittals to plan installations.
• Lay out and install HVAC equipment, supports, and piping systems for chillers, boilers, air handlers, pumps, and VAV boxes.
• Work collaboratively, take direction constructively, and maintain a professional, reliable presence onsite.
• Coach apprentices to build knowledge, productivity, and safety awareness.
• Apply strong planning and organizational skills to allocate labor and resources effectively.
• Maintain a safe jobsite by following company safety policies and procedures.

What you bring

• High School diploma, GED, or completion of trade school.
• Valid driver’s license.
• 3+ years of pipefitting experience in institutional, industrial, or commercial HVAC.
• Hands-on installation and demolition experience with commercial HVAC equipment (chillers, boilers, air handlers, pumps, VAV boxes, etc.).
• Proficiency with multiple pipe materials and joining methods: steel, copper, plastic, fiberglass; screw, grooved, compression, fusion, glue/solvent-weld, sweat, braze, and weld; typical sizes from 1/2" up to 6" or larger.
• Nice-to-have: sheet metal duct fabrication/installation; electrical and controls installation.
• Apprenticeship experience and OSHA 10 training are pluses.
• Demonstrated pipefitting skillset; reliable, self-motivated, and professional.

Physical demands

• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to walk, stoop, crawl, climb, kneel, crouch, handle and reach; maintain depth perception, field of vision, balance; and hear and speak on active jobsites.

Tools and systems

HVAC systems and related mechanical installations.

Background check and drug screening

Must be able to pass a government background check, drug test and other site pre-access requirements.
