Job Description

Our client provides advanced fire detection and alarm solutions to the Chicagoland and Orland Park area. Their offerings include addressable fire alarm systems (smoke and heat detection, integrated horns and strobes), Vesda air sampling early smoke detection, mass notification and emergency voice evacuation systems, and 24/7 alarm monitoring and service support. With NICET certified technicians, City of Chicago MBE/DBE certification, and experience across high-rises to local businesses, they deliver both installation and ongoing maintenance, and inspections tailored to local codes.

Salary:
Base salary of $70,000 to $110,000 (negotiable based on experience)

Job Summary:
We are seeking a full-time, on-site Fire Alarm Designer based in the Greater Chicago Area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and drafting fire alarm systems that meet all applicable codes and regulations. This role involves collaborating with engineers, project managers, and installation teams to ensure successful system implementation from design to execution.

Job Responsibilities:
• Design and draft fire alarm systems using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
• Review and interpret architectural and construction blueprints.
• Ensure designs are code-compliant with NFPA, IBC, and local fire protection standards.
• Conduct site visits to gather requirements and validate as-built conditions.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field technicians throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare technical documentation, including submittals and reports.
• Provide ongoing support during installation and inspection phases.

Qualifications:
• Experience in fire alarm system design and CAD drafting.
• Strong knowledge of fire safety codes and standards (NFPA 72, etc.).
• Ability to read and analyze construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Effective communication and project coordination abilities.
• NICET Level I or II certification (preferred).
• Previous experience in construction, engineering, or MEP design is a plus.
