Under the general supervision of the Telecommunicatios Systems Operations Supervisor I (TSOS I) and/or technical guidance and support of a Telecommunications Systems Technician III (TST III), the TST II is responsible for responding to and resolving public safety communications problems for State Agency clients. The duties are performed by following Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules and regulations, utilizing at a minimum, office-provided training, complex test equipment, computers, hand tools, the Telecommunications Division Manual (TDM), and technical literature. Incumbent will communicate effectively on all written and verbal interactions, frequently interfacing with customers and co-workers to resolve issues and collaborate. The TST II will maintain a professional and team-centered environment by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Incumbent will work proficiently with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, and Excel. Travel to and working in remote locations, high elevations, and inclement weather conditions may be required.

Working Conditions

In Office : This position supports and manages the day-to-day business operations for Cal OES which is handled in an office location. This is not considered a hybrid telework position.

DMV Pull Program : Participation in the DMV Pull Program is required. The position(s) require(s) a valid California Driver’s License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.

Background Investigation : Candidates are required to submit to a background investigation process, including but not limited to Live Scan fingerprinting to obtain Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigations clearances.

THIS POSITION IS SUBJECT TO THE POST & BID PROCESS : Priority will be given to Cal OES Post & Bid applicants (if any). Post & Bid applications will be accepted from individuals currently employed by the Cal OES, with permanent status in the classification.
